Ginny, don’t be hasty
‘Fuck, Ginny!’ Harry Potter ducked a hex thrown his way. ‘Stop it! What’s going on?’
‘What’s going on?!’ Ginny shrieked and cast another Bat-Bogey Hex that Harry managed to dodge. ‘You bastard! You lied to me, you miserable, cheating bastard! And you ask me what’s going on?’
‘What?’ For a moment, Harry gaped at his ex-girlfriend. The red of a hex streaking his way startled him out of his amazement. ‘I didn’t cheat on you!’
‘Oh no? And what do you call that?!’
A picture was thrust under his nose, and Harry peered down. Then he flushed wild red at the sight of the three men in the photo, two dark-haired and one white-blond, kissing and groping and thrusting against and into each other.
‘Ginny!’ Harry gave a strangled cry. ‘Where’d you get that?’
‘Doesn’t matter! All that matters is: you cheated on me!’
‘What, no, I didn’t!’
‘Do you deny it’s you?!’
‘Uh, well … no. I mean, yeah, it’s me, I— Fuck, Ginny!’
‘You filthy, lying, cheating bastard!’
Harry suppressed a groan and, fed-up with the situation, Stunned the girl. Once silence reigned, Harry sighed.
‘Listen, Ginny. Yes, it’s me in that photo. But I didn’t cheat on you. No, Ginny. Not this time. I told you again and again it’s over between us. This isn’t just a phase I’m going through, some sort of rebellion, or whatever Hermione calls it. This is me, Ginny! I’m sorry you found out this way, that I didn’t tell you sooner, but … Yeah. That’s the way things are.’
He waited, but Ginny didn’t react. With another sigh, he cast Finite Incantatem, and Ginny’s rigid body slumped into a more natural pose. Harry kept his wand ready, in case she cast another hex at him. But Ginny only glared at him and, with a sound that was a mixture of sob and angry snarl, she turned and slammed out of the room.
Harry exhaled, slipped his wand into his robe and looked down at the picture. His cheeks heated once more. He shook his head and marched over to the Floo. Shouting his destination, he whirled away, and seconds later stumbled out of a grate into a cosy sitting-room. Straightening, he cast a glance around, and then marched over to a long sofa from which a blond young man was just rising, and thrust the picture under the man’s nose.
‘Hm? What is it, lover?’
‘Did you have to send it to Ginny, Draco?’
The blond opened his eyes wide in innocence. ‘Me?’
‘Yes, you. Honestly, did you think I wouldn’t recognise your hand in this?’
Draco cocked his head. ‘But she knows now, doesn’t she. And you don’t look hexed.’
Harry rolled his eyes. ‘Not for any lack of trying on her part. But that’s not it, Draco. I told you I would do this on my own. You had no right to interfere and send Ginny the picture!’
‘I wasn’t interfering with you,’ Draco said and crossed his arms in front of his chest. ‘I was protecting my private sphere. Really, Harry, she was getting annoying, Owling you all the time and waylaying you. I could barely step out of the door in your company without falling over her. You may not mind her fawning over you, but she seriously annoyed me. So I got rid of her.’
Harry groaned and plopped down on the sofa next to Draco. ‘Bloody Slytherin,’ he grumbled.
‘But you still love me, don’t you?’ Draco scooted closer, wrapped his arms around Harry, and kissed him.
The sound of a door closing made them look up.
‘Ah, Harry has returned already,’ Severus said as he stepped into the room.
‘Yeah, well, after Ginny tried hexing me and then stormed off, I saw no reason to say,’ Harry groused. ‘And it’s all Draco’s fault.’
‘That you are back already? I cannot find fault in that.’
‘Why, thank you, love.’ Draco blew a kiss at Severus.
Harry snorted. ‘He sent Ginny a picture of us. She got it into her head that I cheated on her and tried to hex me.’
Severus sat down on Harry’s other side. ‘So?’
‘Dammit!’ Harry slammed his fists down onto his knees. ‘I told you I’d do it my way, in my own time. I told you I’d tell them when I’m ready. Draco had no right to interfere!’
‘And I told you I didn’t interfere with your business,’ Draco said tartly. ‘I dealt with one of mine.’
‘Which happened to be the one I told you to stay away from!’
‘I don’t have to listen to what you tell me. Besides, the matter was getting more than annoying. If you’d have done something as you said you would, I wouldn’t have needed to do something on my own!’
‘Harry, Draco,’ Severus interrupted before Harry could retort. He placed one hand over Harry’s fist and the other around Harry’s back on Draco’s shoulder. The two young men relaxed and looked away from each other.
‘Now, Harry.’ Severus took Harry’s hands, opened the fists and entangled his fingers with Harry’s. ‘Why are you so angry? Aren’t you glad it’s out in the open now? I know how much you dreaded to tell them.’
Harry sighed and leaned against Severus’s shoulder. ‘Yeah, of course, but … I didn’t want it to happen this way.’
‘No, but then, you ought to have acted on your own a lot sooner. You can’t really blame Draco. In fact, Draco may have done you a favour by forcing Miss Weasley to accept the truth about you in such irrefutable manner.’
‘See? What I don’t do for you, lover,’ Draco chirped and batted his dark lashes.
Harry grimaced. ‘Underhanded Slytherin.’
Draco grinned. ‘Guilty as charged.’
Harry snuggled closer to Severus. ‘They’ll all hate me now,’ he said morosely.
Severus wrapped one arm around Harry’s shoulder and pulled him closer still. ‘If they really love you as much as they proclaim, they will forgive you.’
Harry sighed. Draco exchanged a glance with Severus, and then crawled over the sofa and snuggled into Harry. He took Harry’s free hand and pressed a kiss into the palm. Harry closed his eyes and accepted the silent support of his lovers.
‘Give them a little time,’ Draco said softly after a while. ‘They’ll get used to the idea. If my parents could, the Weasley clan shouldn’t be a problem.’
‘You might want to enlist Mr Charles Weasley’s help,’ Severus added.
Harry blinked and looked up. ‘Charlie? Wow, I never knew. Thanks, Severus. I think I’ll Owl him.’
‘Not now, though,’ Severus pulled Harry back as he started to get up. ‘Now, I believe, we have the matter of a photo to discuss.’ He shot a disapproving glance at Draco.
Draco winced a little, but under Severus’s steady look he finally produced the picture. Severus looked down at it. Harry, remembering, flushed a deep red. Severus, though, didn’t react, at least not visibly. But Harry felt it, hardening against his hip.
‘Hm,’ Severus said finally. The disapproval vanished from his voice. ‘Very interesting. Excellent technique, Draco. You are getting better with the camera. However,’ he continued sternly and glared at a very flushed Draco, ‘if I ever hear of you sending pictures with me in them to strangers again, I shall be very much displeased!’
Draco quickly shook his head. ‘Oh, no. I promise, Severus!’
Severus nodded and looked back down at the picture. After a moment, he frowned.
‘Hm? I can’t remember that …’ he said as if to himself.
Instantly, two heads popped up and bent curiously over the picture. Harry and Draco looked down at the moving forms, then up at each other, and then turned to Severus with identical grins.
‘Why, Severus, let me help you to remember,’ Draco purred and, while Harry took the picture out of Severus’s unresisting hand and let it drop to the floor, Draco reached out to start opening buttons.
End.
