Infidelity is a borderline case. I hate it when it happens between the two (or three) people of my pairing, otherwise it could go under kink. In other words, I’m fine with Harry shagging Draco (or Severus, or Scorpius, or Bill, or ...) while being married to Ginny, but Harry cheating on Draco (or Severus or ...) depresses me for days.




Dislikes
- (graphic) violence/torture
- unhappy endings
- major character death
- major OOCnes
- saccarine fluff
- unrelenting angst
- cliché appellations such as “greasy git” or “bat of the dungeons” (and I especially hate it when Snape calls himself that!!)
- "the brunette" or "the blond" are just as bad
- easy acceptance of homosexuality or wizarding world full of gay men
- everything Celtic: rituals, druids, calling Christmas “Yuletide”, pagan rituals, wicca style magic (I did Celtic Studies at uni & this pseudo-Celtic stuff always makes me want to pull out my hair)
- Muggleisms (e.g. characters drinking Merlot/Bordeaux/Glenfidditch or wear Armani suits; at least, make that Armani robes! And if they must have a telly, explain how it works - and how they have reception. Or everyone living in London because that’s close to work. These people are wizards, you know. They can Apparate.)
- Americanisms (sorry to all Americans, but these stories are British)
- clubbing *shudders*
- bumbling idiot!Harry and super-brilliant!Draco (seen too often in Auror fics & I always wonder how Harry managed to get Head Auror, being such an idiot ...)
- girly men
- overly emotional men
- Harry being easily seduced/manipulated
- Ginny being a one-dimensional evil bitch (although every reason except for "Because I said so!" makes bitch!Ginny acceptable)
- characters having more than general knowledge of the Muggle world, e.g. Harry knowing all about WW II & drawing parallels to DEs; yes, he was raised by Muggles, but please don't try to make me believe that children below the age of 11 have an understanding of WW II or that Harry miraculously gained any Muggle-world knowledge during his Hogwarts years; the same goes for Hermione - yes, she is more aware & interested than Harry, but chances are, she was busy learning all she could about the wizarding world during her Hogwarts years (and she didn't spend much time with her parents, either, so where would the knowledge come from?) /rant



Squicks

pairings involving Marauders (yes, that includes Snape/Lupin *shudders*)

Scenarios I never tire of reading or would like to read
- jealousy and/or misunderstandings lead to angst and then to a happy ending
- someone has been pursuing Harry/ trying to catch his attention/ trying to convey his feelings, but Harry is oblivious to the feelings of his fellow beings
- from Harry's point of view (either 1st or 3rd person); Snape "hides" his true feelings and Harry is oblivious, but the reader knows what is going on
- fate/circumstances/magic throw characters together; what happens and how do they deal? (a wonderful example of what I mean is Their Phoenix by lomonaaeren)
- training of a (new) sub
- for a threesome: two are in a D/s relationship and add a third (voluntarily or not); third can be second Dom or second sub
