Slytherin Love
Reveals for
hp_summersmut are up, so I can come out and admit that I wrote Slytherin Love for
ravenna_c_tan. I've been wanting to do so ever since I read her comment on the fic. I'd been close to panicking that she wouldn't like it, and then there was that comment, and guh.
As mentioned before, I squee'd and bounced in my chair for several minutes, I was so happy. Mum thought I'd finally gone round the bend.
And my first attempt not only at writing for an exchange, but at graphic threesome slash, too!
Not that it was the firt bunny, mind. I had this long, post-DH bunny first. But
ravenna_c_tan said she preferred to not have the fic DH compliant. Besides, the fic would have got too long. Then I started writing "Just a Fantasy", because that was another bunny that was hopping around in my head. Only, I couldn't really make it fit, either.
So, while walking to uni one day, I ran over the kinks she'd given and tried to work something out. And then, it was just there. I got the prompts "Slytherin policies, questionable loyalties", and just knew that Draco would be the one doubting Severus. And that they would be in a relationship. Which is remarkable, because I'm not a big fan of Snaco (to be more precise, I can't read it, really, not if there isn't any Harry around to join them). Knowing that, the opening paragraphs just popped up in my head. In present tense, to my own everlasting surprise. But it felt right, so I didn't try to change it.
Of course, while writing, Draco got away and developed a mind of his own. He suddenly refused to keep doubting Severus and decided that he didn't really care whether Severus was loyal to the Dark Lord or not. That came as a real surprise. Originally, the fic was meant to end with Draco still doubting. But he decided otherwise. Plus, I'm a sappy romantic and just can't write an unhappy end for the boys.
Which, of course, had me fretting that the fic would be too sappy. Especially after I read on
ravenna_c_tan's journal that she loathes sappy, fluffy romance.
Then, there was of course the thing with the dynamics between those three. See, I'm a Snarry shipper, and when I plot, I usually do it from Harry's pov. So I fretted I'd be too heavy on the Severus/Harry bit and neglegt the Severus/Draco relationship. Especially because I was trying to show the differences in the relationships. Between Severus and Harry, there's a lot of obvious passion. Their relationship has always been so intense; I wanted to have sparks flying there. Severus and Draco's relationship is quieter. No less intense, but not as openly passionate. More intimate on an emotional level. Not sure how well I managed to get that across, though.
The Harry and Draco bit? That was the easiest. Draco has been in denial. But he has been watching Harry so closely that he can tell by the way Harry moves how he feels. And yes, Harry knew before that Draco and Severus are lovers. Perhaps Severus told him. I don't know. They wouldn't let me know.
I don't like it when my characters do that. *sniffs*
But at least I know everything else. Harry did come to the Manor to talk to Severus. Severus suspected Harry to do it, which is why he insisted on verifying the captive's identity. He needed an opportunity to communicate with Harry. And that's why he suggested Legilimency. Harry gave him a message that way. Only, Severus poked a little further and discovered what probably was Harry's most recent wanking fantasy - threesome sex.
Although he knew before what Harry felt for him. He just never did anything about it. But he also knows Draco very well, and I daresay he suspected what was behind Draco's denial. So, of course, he took advantage of the situation. ^-^
Okay, shutting up now to let you read it.
So now, onto the fic!
